The 2008 Colorado Good Sam Samboree was held at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds in Salida, CO September 12-14, 2008. There were 131 rigs and 251 people, from 6 state(total rigs):  Alabama (2), California (1), Oklahoma (1) , Missouri (2), New York (1), South Dakota (1).  We had two other countries represented, Canada (2) and Australia.  The Australian couple, Brian and Ros Braendler were on a nine month tour of the US and so fare had visited about 7 state Samborees. Ros is an expert at jig-saw puzzles.  Don and Helen Woodard, were the Sambassadors from the International Good Sams.    Click on Program to see the Program of the 2008 Samboree.
The Samboree runs Friday to Sunday.  Many people arrive on Thursday as "Early Birds".  Thursday had some activities including, vendor sales, games crafts and evening entertainment. On Friday and Saturday there were crafts, a photo contest, a Dog show, a Ladies tea, games, lunch favorites, seminars, raffle sales, vendor sales, and evening entertainment.  On Sunday there is the traditional pancake breakfast followed by a church service and finally the releasing of balloons, in memory of departed chapter members.

In the evenings, there was entertainment. On Thursday there was a singer, Kathy Struck followed by the Good Sam version of bingo, SAMGO;.  On Friday there was the Opening ceremonies followed by Cowboy Poet”  Sam Noble, followed by SAMGO.  On Saturday there is the catered banquet, followed by a singer Tom Munch and SAMGO.  On Saturday evening there were also game, and chapter recognition awards.  Each night that were dozens of door prizes given out.

Through out the Samboree there are continuous activities.  There was a Photo contest. There were games: . Watermelon Spitting Contest, cards, puzzles, Dominos, Marshmallow Golf, Bean Bag Toss, Golf Challenge, Beanbag Baseball, and Horseshoes.  There were craft sessions: "Dress your Potato", making handcrafted greeting cards and making "Spinners".  At lunch there was a deli offerings by various chapters with  Sloppy Joes, Pies & Cakes and Root Beer Floats, Walking Tacos & Hot Dogs with Potato Salad, Egg Rolls & Funnel Cakes. Throughout the day there is a hospitality area offering coffee, donuts and cookies. There were commercial venders as well as chapters selling crafts and holding raffles as fundraisers.

This year there was a special fund raiser to benefit the "Make a Wish" foundation.  There was a jail to house desperate members, and judges to determine their bail.  A total of $?? was raised.  Many chapters also contributed money to this effort.
